Linkin Park at the Letzigrund – An evening that defied any storm

There are concert evenings that linger in the memory. And then there are those rare evenings when the music, the audience and the moment itself merge into something greater.

30 June 2026 was exactly such an evening. With the final concert of their From Zero World Tour, Linkin Park stopped off at the Letzigrund Stadium, bringing their 100-concert world tour to a close. Long before the show began, a special sense of anticipation hung over Zurich as thousands of fans streamed into the stadium from all directions – many brimming with excitement at finally seeing the band perform live in Switzerland again after more than a decade.

When the first bars of *The Emptiness Machine* rang out at 8.25 pm, that anticipation turned into pure energy. From the very first minute, Linkin Park captivated the Letzigrund with powerful guitar riffs, impressive visuals and Emily Armstrong’s distinctive voice.

Around 40 minutes after the concert began, a violent summer storm swept over the Letzigrund, forcing the band to take a brief break. But rather than dampening the mood, it highlighted what made this evening so special: whilst the rain pelted down on the stadium, Mexican waves rolled through the stands, fans sang together, danced on the pitch and waited patiently – in the hope that the show would continue. When Linkin Park finally returned to the stage to thunderous cheers, the sense of relief was palpable throughout the stadium. What had been a brief pause became a moment that brought the band and the audience even closer together.

What followed was a finale brimming with intensity. Emily Armstrong impressively demonstrated why she is shaping Linkin Park’s new chapter with such power. She switched effortlessly between vulnerable melodies and blood-curdling screams, whilst Mike Shinoda repeatedly encouraged the audience to sing along.

With songs such as ‘The Catalyst’, ‘Burn It Down’ and ‘Waiting for the End’, the show picked up momentum again immediately after the break. By the time classics such as ‘Numb’, ‘In the End’, ‘Faint’, ‘Papercut’ and the powerful finale with ‘Bleed It Out’ were played, the Letzigrund Stadium had transformed into a single, mighty choir. Thousands of voices merged into a single sound, whilst lasers perfectly synchronised with the music, monumental lighting displays, confetti and pyrotechnics bathed the stadium in an impressive spectacle.

Together with the dark clouds over Zurich, this created an almost mystical atmosphere that lingered long after the evening had ended.

Shortly before 11 pm, the show came to an end amidst loud cheers, flying confetti and a standing ovation. What remained was far more than just a concert. It was an evening full of energy, goosebumps and shared memories – driven by a band that returned to the stage with renewed vigour, and an audience that gave it their all every minute. On this evening, the Letzigrund became more than just a concert venue: it became a place where thousands of people shared the same emotions and experienced together that not even a thunderstorm could break the unifying power of music.
